Newsletter No.5 for 2019

2019 SEASON CLOSER

The Victorian Drag Boat Club would like to thank everyone for your support through a tough season due to the Blue Green Algae as well as boat issues with many of our most regular competitors.

Despite this it is was fantastic to see we had around 20 competitive boats and skis at all of the race meetings we were able to host.
A big congratulations and thank you to all racers, crews and volunteers who made this season and in particular the season closer a success one.
We couldn’t have done it without you.

Race Results

We are currently working with Parks Victoria to secure dates for the 2019⁄2020 race season.
We hope to provide them shortly so you can lock them in your calendar and give everyone time to get their boats ready to race.

DO YOU WANT TO HELP AND BE INVOLVED ON RACE DAY?

Interested in getting a Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate?

A Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate can be a very useful to have.
It is often essential to gain employment in the hospitality industry.
For others it means you can help community groups etc that may run a bar at their events.

The club is planning to host an RSA course in the coming months.
The certificate is likely to cost $60-70 per person.
If you assist the club at the race day bar and BBQ at 3 race meetings for 2 hours, the club will refund the cost of the RSA.

Please contact Steve Baird on 03 9587 1080 or by emailing vicepresident@vdbc.com.au if you are interested.

Bar and BBQ wrap

The race day bar and BBQ was a huge success this year.
You may have noticed we have been trialling a few different food options, building on the success of steamed dimmies last year.
Next year we plan to continue with the standard egg and bacon rolls for breakfast, sausages, hamburgers along with chicken burgers, steamed dim sims and on the cooler days roast beef and gravy rolls.

The bar and BBQ was a huge success because of everyone that came along and supported us by buying food and drink.
A big big thank you for all the hard working volunteers, many starting to set up at 7am and working through until early evening.

It is a long day on your feet but it is the backbone of the club by helping fund the race days.
