Lots happening at the club here is more information on what has been going on.
It was a very welcome visit by two State Labor Government Members of Parliament, the Member for Carrum, Sonya Kilkenny and the Member for Mordialloc, Tim Richardson to Round 2 of the VDBC National High Points Championship event on the 25th of February 2018.
Pictured left to right at the February Event are: Allan Day, Sonya Kilkenny (Labor Member for Carrum), Shannon Crundwell, Scott Faggotter (VDBC Secretary), Alan Joy, Rowan Crundwell (VDBC President), Steve Baird (VDBC Vice President), Graeme Watson (Electrical Trades Union Sponsor), Tim Richardson (Labor Member for Mordialloc), Hamish Berryman, Wendy Howie (former VDBC President)
For some time the VDBC have been seeking support from both Sonya and Tim for public funding for the much needed upgrade of the public and Club facilities at the National Water Sports Centre (NWSC).
The VDBC welcome the ongoing support from the Daniel Andrews Victorian Labor Government with regard to the clubs attempts at achieving funding for upgrades to the NWSC. The club has aspirations to achieve new user group and VDBC Club Rooms and facilities, new site toilets, renovations on the Race Control Tower, public address system, access roads, car parking, etc. etc.
These upgrades and renovations are necessary for the VDBC and other users of the NWSC to both increase the participation at the NWSC but also in particular for the VDBC includes invitations for Drag Boat Teams from the USA to attend future events at the NWSC with a possible target date being the 2018⁄19 season.
The VDBC Executive have also been successful in achieving funding from the Federal Stronger Communities Programme to have public seating installed along the foreshore area in front of the current rooms. Thanks must go to the Federal Labor Member for Isaacs, Mark Dreyfus in supporting the VDBC in achieving that funding.
The seats are expected to be installed in the near future.
Allan Broomhall (Allan Broomhall Photography) provided the photograph above and the VDBC appreciate his ongoing role and shots at Events.
Stay tuned for hopefully more good news in the coming weeks and months.
